Job Description

This Field Service Engineer role focuses on supporting semiconductor facilities with reliable operation, maintenance, and commissioning of water and related process systems. You will perform routine rounds, troubleshoot equipment, support commissioning activities, and maintain detailed documentation while collaborating closely with internal teams and customers. This position offers the opportunity to help launch a new local office in a growing semiconductor market, with strong potential for career growth and limited travel requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine facility rounds to verify that equipment and systems are operating correctly.
  • Load and unload chemicals safely and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Stage, change out, and maintain filtration systems to support consistent system performance.
  • Monitor system parameters and performance indicators to ensure stable operation.
  • Respond promptly to system alarms, troubleshoot issues, and make necessary adjustments to support waste-processing operations.
  • Perform weekly and monthly safety inspections and document findings as required.
  • Collect water samples from multiple facility locations and test or analyze water quality.
  • Install and replace consumable parts as scheduled or as needed to maintain system reliability.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation for all work performed.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized, including hosing down surfaces and removing trash or leak pads.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with company policies and safety standards.
  • Enter operational data into computer systems to generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
  • Record readings from facility rounds and compile them into spreadsheets or other reporting tools.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on equipment and sub-assemblies following established guidelines.
  • Review blueprints, plans, and specifications to prepare for system startup, commissioning, or service activities.
  • Build strong, solution-oriented relationships with customers, sales representatives, and suppliers through professional communication and support, both on-site and remotely.
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, production, field sales, and management teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Complete service reports, repair records, warranty documentation, and maintenance logs within required timeframes.
  • Properly document, label, process, and return defective parts from service or commissioning work.
  • Interface with customers as needed to support operations, maintenance, and service activities.
  • Organize and maintain parts storage areas and warehouse inventory to ensure availability of critical components.
  • Continuously seek improvements in efficiency, cost, and workflow, and suggest process enhancements.
  • Provide clear feedback to management regarding operational conditions, technical issues, and business observations.
  • Support special projects and other duties as assigned by supervisors.
  • Uphold high ethical standards and follow all company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Report irregular issues or problems to supervisors promptly and accurately.
  • Maintain strong communication with supervisors, office staff, and external contacts to coordinate work effectively.
  • Be available to cover shifts with appropriate notice to support continuous operations.
Essential Skills
  • Prior experience performing field service installations, including commissioning activities and electrical wiring.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, plans, and specifications.
  • Experience with HVAC installation or similar mechanical systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for process equipment, systems, and alarms.
  • Capability to safely handle, load, and unload chemicals according to procedures.
  • Competence in collecting water samples and performing basic water quality testing or analysis.
  • Proficiency in entering operational data into computer systems and generating reports.
  • Ability to maintain accurate maintenance logs, service reports, and documentation.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with customers, internal teams, and suppliers.
  • Commitment to safety practices, including performing regular safety inspections and maintaining a clean work environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Knowledge of ultrapure water systems or water technology is a plus.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is preferred.
  • Experience working in semiconductor or high-tech facility environments is beneficial.
  • Background in commissioning technician roles or similar technical field service positions is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to build solution-oriented relationships with customers and cross-functional teams.
  • Interest in growing with a new local office and pursuing upward mobility within a developing organization.
Work Environment

This role primarily supports semiconductor facilities, with work performed mainly on-site at semiconductor locations in the Boise area. Travel requirements are approximately 11%, making it well-suited for professionals who enjoy field service work but prefer limited travel. You will work around process equipment, filtration systems, and water treatment technologies in a production or industrial setting. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization, including regular cleaning of work areas and adherence to safety procedures. You will collaborate closely with engineering, project management, production, field sales, and office staff, and you will interact directly with customers and suppliers. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $35.00/hr.
