The Forensic Nurse provides compassionate, specialized care for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking, as well as patients requesting forensic examinations during the acute care period. This role coordinates comprehensive healthcare services, supports patients through the forensic process, and ensures seamless follow-up care and advocacy.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergent medical triage and compassionate, trauma-informed patient care
• Perform medical forensic examinations following state standards and best practices
• Collect, document, and preserve forensic evidence while maintaining chain of custody
• Educate patients on the impacts of trauma and available healthcare resources
• Coordinate medical and support service referrals for ongoing care and recovery
• Collaborate with law enforcement, advocacy agencies, and legal professionals
• Maintain forensic nursing competency through continuing education and training
• Participate in on-call coverage, including weekends and holidays
• Assist with community outreach and educational initiatives as needed

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• RN license state of Montana required
• BLS required
• 2+ years Healthcare experience in applicable field required
• Adolescent/Adult SANE training preferred (required within 3 months of hire)
• Pediatric SANE training preferred (required within 18 months of hire)
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, time management and program development
