This position is responsible for performing professional level work in the examination and analysis of insurance complaints concerning the operations and business practices of insurance companies, agencies, agents, and public adjusters. The duties are performed under close supervision, progressing to limited supervision. The position specializes in at least one line of insurance (property and casualty); including organizing, collecting data, identifying, and documenting complaint findings, legal files, and company complaint reports. Duties also include reviewing complex policy forms and rate submissions, investigating and working with legal staff on complicated issues involving interpretations of insurance law. This position will progress to Insurance Examiner-Journey, specializing in analysis and resolution of more complex complaints and resolution in one or more lines of insurance.

Starting salary for the Insurance Examiner (07-04) be between $26.50-$31.50 hourly, plus great benefits. This position is also eligible for the $1.00 per hour AIE and CIE add-on. Salary will be determined by applicant qualifications. A 12-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.
Due to the nature of the position, OCI will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection. OCI does not sponsor visas and is not an eligible OPT employer for those with F1 visas. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States, and to complete the required employment eligibility form.
This position has potential for a combination of telecommuting and in-person work after an initial training period has been completed. Some travel may be necessary, including out-of-state travel. All employees are expected to live and work in Wisconsin.
