Job Description

  • Construct, alter, repair, and modify structures where accuracy, spacing, and structural soundness are required.
  • Develop patterns to layout, cut, form, join, assemble, and install metal siding, shelves, roofs, and flashing.
  • Maintain and construct exterior/interior structures composed of brick, block, stone, cement, and concrete.
  • Install and repair different types of roofing surfaces such as shingled, asphalt covered, tiled, and graveled.
  • Read, interpret, and apply blueprints, specifications, sketches, and drawings.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Mason without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties which include constructing, altering, repairing, and modifying structures such as frame work, rafters, doors, finished paneling, windows, rough furniture, interior/exterior trim, trusses, and beams where accuracy, spacing, and structural soundness are required; installing and maintaining different types of roofing surfaces; laying brick, cinder and cement block, and stone. I can develop patterns to layout, cut, form, join, assembles and install metal siding, shelves, roofs, and flashing. I can locate and repair roof leaks by replacing damaged roofing material, decking, beams, and joists. I have some experience operating a variety of snow removal equipment to clean snow from roadways and paved areas. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort - The mason is required to lift items up to 50 pounds and, occasionally, up to 100 pounds. Works from ladders, scaffolds, or platforms. Considerable walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, and reaching are required. Work can be performed in cramped and awkward positions. Working Conditions - Work is performed indoors and outdoors, and in all types of weather. Protective devices must be worn when required. Subject to noise and vibration from shop equipment, as well as cuts, bruises, falls, and burns. Subject to potential exposure to asbestos containing material (ACM) while performing roof maintenance and repair.
