Position is eligible for incentive pay.

This position is based out of Pella, but will also provide services to our Knoxville location. Frequent travel in this position is required.

Position Summary

Community 1st Credit Union is seeking a Mortgage Loan Originator to expand mortgage relationships and guide members from initial inquiry through closing. This role exists to deliver accurate, timely, and member-focused lending solutions while supporting portfolio growth.

Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and manage a pipeline through referrals, community networking, and outbound prospecting
- Conduct needs-based consultations; evaluate credit, income, and collateral to recommend appropriate products
- Prepare and submit complete applications; coordinate documentation and disclosures in accordance with regulatory and investor requirements
- Partner with processors, underwriters, and closing teams to resolve conditions and meet service timelines
- Provide service across Pella and Knoxville; frequent travel is required

Required qualifications/skills:
- Strong customer service and consultative communication skills; banking experience not required
- Detail orientation, sound judgment, and comfort learning new systems and guidelines

As a Mortgage Loan Originator, your day typically begins by reviewing new leads, returning member inquiries, and confirming upcoming appointments. You will spend substantial time meeting with prospective and existing members, walking through options and setting clear expectations for next steps.

Between conversations, you will track file status, follow up on outstanding items, and coordinate touchpoints with internal partners to keep loans moving forward. You may split time between the Pella and Knoxville locations, with travel built into the schedule.

You will also maintain an active presence in the community by attending networking opportunities and strengthening referral relationships, while staying current on market conditions and compliance updates that affect member financing decisions.
