Location: Milwaukee Area and Surrounding Counties Organization: International Institute of Wisconsin (IIW) Position Type: Part-time, Contract / As-Needed Pay Rate: $26.00 per hour Overview The International Institute of Wisconsin (IIW) is seeking qualified interpreters to join our team in the Milwaukee area and surrounding counties. These are contract-based, as-needed positions, with work assignments offered based on client demand and interpreter availability. Key Responsibilities Provide accurate, clear, and professional spoken interpretation in a variety of community settings, including: Medical appointments School meetings (e.g., parent-teacher conferences) Social service and case management visits Employment orientations and workplace trainings USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services) interviews Maintain strict confidentiality, professionalism, and neutrality in accordance with the Interpreter Code of Ethics. Communicate promptly with the Interpretation and Translation Coordinator regarding assignment acceptance, availability, and required reporting. Qualifications Full fluency in English and other language required. Reliable transportation to travel to appointments throughout the Milwaukee area. Strong understanding of and ability to follow the Interpreter Code of Ethics. At least one year of interpretation experience (professional or volunteer) preferred. Formal interpreter training, certification, or specialized experience (e.g., medical, legal, or human services) preferred.
