Job Description - Danville Community College developed from two institutions, Danville Technical Institute and the Danville Division of Virginia Polytechnic Institute opened in 1936 as Danville Textile School, becoming Danville Technical Institute just after World War II. The Danville Division of Virginia Polytechnic Institute first began as an engineering division in 1946, and was later expanded to include the first two years of course work for all engineering, business administration, liberal arts, and science majors. Beginning in the summer of 1966, all programs taught by Danville Technical Institute were brought under the Virginia Department of Community Colleges. Effective July 1, 1968, the Danville Division of Virginia Polytechnic Institute merged with the existing community college providing the comprehensive programs now offered.
JOB DUTIES:Maintain and monitor lab area for daily instructional activities including equipment setupPrepare for and instruct established and approved curriculum and lesson plans to students in a professional mannerMust possess ability to prepare/adjust curriculum and training content to relate to various audiencesReview and discuss syllabi requirements at the start of each term with studentsAnswer all student questions as they arise to ensure student understanding and completion of material for Industrial MaintenanceEnsure students are aware of safety policies and monitor for correct proceduresMaintain professionalism within the classroom and coach students on their professionalismManage all classroom activity including lecturing, student assistance, and lab instructionEnsure students are attending lab and online courseworkResolve attendance issues as neededMonitor student grades, and all student interactions in student files and on database in a timely mannerAdvise students on issues affecting their education and provide guidance as neededMay be required to perform other duties as assigned
Special Assignments - May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
