Introduction

Epstein is seeking a Construction Accountant to join our Accounting team in Chicago. This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional with 5-7 years of construction accounting experience who enjoys working in a collaborative, project-driven environment and wants to contribute to impactful, high-quality work.

What You'll Do
  • Oversee project accounting, including tracking costs, budgets, and overall financial performance
  • Prepare, review, and process client billings and invoices in a timely manner
  • Manage subcontractor payments and maintain accurate, up-to-date financial records
  • Assist in preparing project financial reports and analyzing variances
  • Collaborate with project managers and internal teams to ensure financial accuracy and alignment
  • Maintain organized, detailed, and compliant accounting documentation
  • Monitor job cost reports and investigate discrepancies or cost overruns
  • Track and manage retainage, lien waivers, and contract compliance documentation
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency

What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree in accounting
5-7 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry

Problem-solving mindset and ability to spot discrepancies
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred:
• Experience with Procore and Deltek VantagePoint
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office

Compensation

Individual compensation is determined by several factors, including education, experience, training, qualifications, skill sets, licensure/certifications, and location. Employees are also eligible for discretionary annual bonuses based on both company and individual performance.

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000 annually.
