Job Description Starting Date: Aug 31, 2026 Job Title: Library Administrative Assistant Location: District-wide (K-5 Elementary Schools and 6-8 Middle School) Supervisor: Curriculum Director General Description: The library administrative assistant assists the school librarians in the full utilization of library services, materials, and resources offered to students, faculty, and staff. Qualifications HS diploma or equivalent with education/experience mix as determined by the Superintendent of Schools. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills in working with students, school personnel, and community members. Proficient in technology and computer applications such as, but not limited to, Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and emerging educational technologies, as well as standard office equipment (photocopiers, laminators, etc.). Highly organized with ability to multi-task, perform detailed work accurately, take initiative, and work independently. Demonstrates ability to manage varied library tasks simultaneously, maintain an academic atmosphere, and develop positive relationships with students and staff. Preferred: Experience in a school library setting and/or working with students and library automation systems. Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between buildings in the district as required. Citizenship, residency or work visa required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide high-quality customer service in assisting students, faculty, and staff in locating, circulating, and using library resources. Work collaboratively with school librarians to maintain library collections, resources, supplies, and spaces (including processing, repairing, and shelving books). Maintain and update library displays as designed by school librarians. Adapt and acquire new skills and knowledge to ensure the smooth, efficient running of the library, including inventory and other library-related tasks. Maintain an employment record of regular attendance, arrive and depart at specified contractual times, and notify appropriate personnel when absent. Perform other duties that may be assigned by the school librarians or Curriculum Director. Working Conditions Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must frequently access books on both low and high shelves via stooping, kneeling, and/or using a library stool. Must occasionally lift and/or move boxes and library materials weighing up to 25 pounds. Work is performed in an educational environment that is moderately noisy with frequent interruptions. Travel across the district is required. Work Year 44 weeks Salary Salary: As negotiated by the North Andover School Committee and North Andover School Administrative Assistants’ Association.
