Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A dedicated Special Education Teacher is needed to support students with mild to moderate learning needs in an in-person setting at a K-5 arts and design preparatory academy in Detroit, MI. This contract role will run from ASAP through June 12, 2026, and focuses on implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) that nurture each students unique learning requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to students with mild to moderate special education needs.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, staff, and families to ensure consistent support.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and adapt strategies to optimize learning outcomes.
• Provide a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that fosters student development.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid Michigan Special Education Certification with an appropriate endorsement.
• Experience working with students who have mild to moderate special education needs is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining a student-focused approach.

Location:

• Detroit, MI (University Preparatory Academy - Art & Design, K-5)

Schedule:

• Full-time, in-person position.
