Job Description

Summer Congregate Residential Counselor - Camp Wediko

We're hiring for Summer 2026! Camp Wediko is looking to hire emerging professionals who are looking to gain experience working with children and adolescents in a therapeutic camp environment at our beautiful lakeside campus. Temporary Camp Wediko Residential Counselors will gain experience working with children and adolescents who have social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. The program will run from June 25th-August 18th, 2026.

Camp Residential Counselors will be hired to work as either Direct Care, Assistant Teachers, or Activities Instructors and will work on a team of 6-8 under the direct supervision of the Clinical Supervisor assigned to the cabin group. Camp Residential Counselors will work alongside our youth throughout the day, from wake up through bedtime routines, and every activity in between: archery, swimming, athletics, canoeing, dance, art, music, kayaking, brain games, nature and discovery, and mountain biking. If you're interested in learning, working hard, having fun, and building lasting connections with other staff members, please consider applying to work with us this summer!

How You'll Be Making A Difference

  • Establish a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment for our youth in which they will be able to identify their strengths and develop and practice new skills.
  • Provide direct care and supervision for youth assigned to cabin group.
  • Participate in daily group therapy led by Cabin Group Supervisor.
  • Participate in individual therapeutic and behavioral interventions to support youth treatment goals.
  • Provide consistent structures and routines to support a predictable environment and program schedule.
  • Consistently model respectful communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Engage in recreational activities alongside our youth and provide coaching and scaffolding for youth when needed.
  • Utilize approved behavior management techniques including use of de-escalation strategies.
  • Seek and/or utilize feedback provided by Clinical Group Supervisors for professional development.
  • Utilize agency policies when responding to emergencies including reporting safety concerns to Lead Staff, Clinical Supervisors, or Program Coordinators.
  • Complete necessary documentation including critical incident reports and written progress monitoring as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to approach challenges in a supportive and creative manner.
  • Adaptability in an ever-changing work environment

Abilities Required

This position requires the ability to walk the rugged terrain of our outdoor campus, an active wooded setting. Residential Counselors will often be outdoors engaging in active recreational activities in the unpredictable summer seasonal elements of New Hampshire. This includes working in hot and humid temperatures and rain. The ability to bend, hold and lift is also required as indicated by behavioral management techniques. Employees are responsible for transportation to one of the pick-up and drop-off locations at the beginning and end of summer (Manchester airport, Boston Logan airport, or direct transport to and from campus).

Valuing Diversity

We are committed to excellence in diversity, equity, and inclusion, while simultaneously creating a culture that supports those values. We believe the differences we bring enhance our ability to provide exceptional service and care to diverse children, families, and communities. Moreover, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging align with our values and our mission to help vulnerable children and their families build permanent, positive change.
